Activation Support

More hands for your season. In your church's name.

A connections hire, without the hiring. Your Activation Specialist joins your team for one season (three months) or longer, and supports your activation where your church needs it most. Your leaders reach your people. You keep the people, the data, and every decision.

An add-on to Martha Complete, for churches of 100 and up. Also available when a church that has run Martha adds Andrew, Saul or Solomon.

The names are
the first half.

Your Inventory Read gave you a list of people who said yes to something. Moving with that list takes time, and many churches do not have someone whose job it is. Your Specialist knows the method and supports your team in your name, with the list in hand.

Season by Season

One season, four phases.

Every season runs in your portal in the same four phases. Here is how your Specialist can support each one, shaped around what your church needs. You make the decisions.

  1. 1
    Get set up

Your Specialist can set up access, confirm your church management system is connected, and walk your staff through your Inventory Read, so the season starts from your own people's answers.

  2. 2
    Alignment

Your Specialist can help you walk the Alignment map, pick your teams (at least 2, with 2 to 4 suggested), and find a leader for each, so every person has somewhere to land.

  3. 3
    Activate

Your leaders get their people, have the next-move talk and place them on a team. Your Specialist can prepare the weekly list and help your team keep the rhythm.

  4. 4
    Multiply

Your Specialist can prepare the Season Handoff, every team with its leader and roster, and walk you through the before and after, so the work stays with your church.

To begin
Get set up

Before the season, Launch Sunday opens a 30-day window for your people to text in and take the read. Your Specialist can walk your team through the Church Context Intake and set up who has access and at what level. Your church's main account holder connects your church management system in the admin portal, and your Specialist can confirm it. Your Specialist can also walk you and your staff through your Inventory Read in plain language.

Plan your season
Alignment

You plan your season together in about thirty minutes: See it, Name it, Decide it. Your Specialist can help you walk the Alignment map from the biggest gap, pick your teams (at least 2, with 2 to 4 suggested), and use Find a leader to name a leader for each from your own people. You make the personal asks to those leaders. Your Specialist can prepare them and help make sure none of them stall. Each team gets an Install Pack.

See it · Name it · Decide it
Reaching your people
Activate

Each leader gets their people, has the next-move talk with each one, and places those who say yes on a team. Your leaders reach your people. Your Specialist's support is shaped around what your church needs and looks different in every church: it can include preparing the weekly list, helping your pastor and point person run the rhythm, and helping with outreach in your church's name where you ask. Each week you can see who has moved, who is waiting, and who has no one yet. Around week 8, your Specialist prepares a Mid-Point Report that shows what is moving and what is not.

Mid-Point Report around week 8
Leaders developing leaders
Multiply

Leaders start developing leaders. Around week 11, your Specialist prepares the Season Handoff: every team, with its named leader and its roster. Around day 90, the people who walked the three days answer again, and you see the before and after. Then you close the season. If your church management system is connected, the fields you picked go to it one more time.

Before and after, around day 90

Between seasons.

If you continue past your first season, your Specialist brings a short written brief to your staff meeting each quarter and supports your next season with you.

The number we move together is your activation rate: of the people who walked the three days, how many now serve on a team.

How Outreach Works

In your name. From your church's line.

When your Specialist helps with outreach, every text and call comes from a line in your church's name. If you already use a texting service, you add your Specialist to it, and your people hear from the number they already know. If you do not, we set up a line for your church. It carries your church's name, and it stays open for as long as you keep the service.

Your Specialist never uses a personal phone, and the portal itself never messages your people.

See the details

The only texts our system sends are the ones your people opted into: the three-day journey itself, its reminders, and The One Question if you run it. Every one of them is listed on the What gets sent page in your portal.

When the service ends, the line is yours to keep or close, and you receive a copy of its conversations.

A first text

If your Specialist helps with outreach, your pastor first introduces them to your church, from the stage or by email. We give you the words.

Your Specialist always introduces themselves as helping your church. A first text reads like this:

Hi, this is [Name]. I'm helping [Your Church] follow up on the three-day journey you took, on behalf of Pastor [Name].
Anyone can reply STOP at any time.
They are added to your portal's do-not-text list the same day.
Your Specialist does not text them again.
What Stays With Your Church

What stays yours.

Your Specialist supports the work. Your church keeps everything that matters, and sees all of it.

Your people.

Anyone your Specialist talks with is handed to one of your leaders inside the season.

Your decisions.

Which teams open, who leads them, who is asked, what you do with the read. Your Specialist can recommend and help carry it out. You decide.

Your data.

It belongs to your church. Export it from the People Tracker or send it to your church management system whenever you want.

Care.

If your Specialist hears something that needs a pastor (a crisis, grief, conflict, a leader stepping back), it goes to your designated pastor the same day. Your Specialist does not counsel and does not carry that conversation.

Sunday.

Preaching, worship, and theology stay with you. We never touch Sunday.

In plain view.

Your Specialist's work shows in your portal under their name: what they did this week and what they need from you. You can end their access at any time.

Who It's For

Who it is for.

Churches of 100 and up.
Churches with no connections or assimilation staff, or one person carrying that role on top of two others.
Churches that have run a read and have more names than hands to move with them.
Churches with a connections role they are not ready to fill, or a search that has stalled.
Who It's Not For

Who it is not for.

A church that will not name team leaders. Your leaders reach your people and your Specialist supports them, so there have to be leaders to support.
A pastor looking for someone to be the pastor.
Churches under about 100. Running Activation yourself serves you better.
The Scope

What's included.

Martha Complete gives you the Inventory Read, the Activation Season and your Activation Portal. Activation Support adds a person to support the work.

One named Activation Specialist, your single point of contact.
Your activation season, supported by your Specialist inside your Activation Portal. Continue and your Specialist supports the next one.
Support shaped around what your church needs, different for every church. It can include preparing your weekly list, helping your pastor and point person run the rhythm, and helping with outreach in your church's name where you ask. Anyone your Specialist reaches is handed to your leaders inside the season.
Training for your coordinator and team leaders on the People Tracker and the weekly follow-up rhythm, which your team keeps after the season.
A weekly check-in with your pastor or executive pastor in season, more time as you need it, and monthly between seasons if you continue.
Your Mid-Point Report and Season Handoff, prepared for you, and a walk through your 90-Day Mirror at the end of each season, so you see what moved.

Activation Support is an add-on to Martha Complete, which includes the Inventory Read, your Activation Portal, and 12 months of access. It is also available when a church that has run Martha adds Andrew, Saul or Solomon. Those projects and The One Question are purchased separately. Leadership, vision, and strategic planning is a separate Advisory engagement.

The Investment

Priced
like a hire.

Activation Support adds a person from our team to your season. It is an add-on to Martha Complete, priced by your typical Sunday attendance: everyone you invite, not only those who respond.

Questions

What pastors ask us.

Is someone outside our church contacting our people?

Only if you want that, and only on your behalf. How much outreach your Specialist does depends on what your church needs. If they help with outreach, they text and call from a line in your church's name, under your written authorization, and always introduce themselves as helping your church. Anyone can reply STOP at any time. Anyone they talk with is introduced to one of your leaders inside the season. Their work in your portal is recorded under their name, you see a summary each week, and you can end their access at any time.

Whose number do the texts come from?

A line in your church's name. If you already use a texting service, you add your Specialist to it. If you do not, we set up a line for your church and keep it open as long as you keep the service. At the end, it is yours to keep or close. Our system never sends outreach to your people, and your Specialist never uses a personal phone.

What if someone shares something that needs a pastor?

It goes to your designated pastor the same day. Your Specialist helps connect people to serving and belonging. They do not counsel, and they do not carry care conversations. Your team leaders can also raise a concern with Tell the pastor from their private link.

Why not just hire a connections person?

You can, and for some churches that is the right call. A hire takes months to find and months more to learn your church, and the role tends to turn over. Your Specialist starts with the read in hand, brings the portal and the method, and has the next season planned before this one ends.

What does our staff have to do?

Name your team leaders and make the personal asks to them. Add your Specialist to your texting service if you have one. Answer the short list in "What I need from you." Hold a weekly check-in in season. Your leaders reach your people, and your Specialist supports the rest, shaped around what your church needs.

How is this different from running the Activation Season ourselves?

On your own, your team makes every call and text from your own phones, and the portal guides each step. With Activation Support, an Activation Specialist from our team supports your activation season, helping where your church needs it, while your leaders reach your people. Both run inside the same Activation Portal.

What happens when the season ends?

Your people are already with your leaders, and your data stays in your portal and your church management system. You can continue into the next season, step back to a lighter rhythm, or carry it forward with your own team.

How much can one Specialist carry?

Your Specialist's time is set by the size of your church, and their support is shaped around what your church needs. Your own leaders reach your people.

What about people who aren't in a group yet?

They show as No one yet in your People Tracker until one of your leaders has them. Each campus's default owner works them from My default list, and This week brings the few who need someone first to the top.

What goes back into Planning Center?

Only the fields your church picks, like team, stage, and next step. They go when you tap Sync now, and once more automatically when you close the season, if your church management system is connected. Changes you make there don't flow back.

What happens to the texting line at the end?

It's yours to keep or close, and you receive a copy of its conversations.

Start with a conversation.

Activation Support usually begins after a church has seen its first read. If that is where you are, or close, we would be glad to talk about your people and what the next season could hold.
